After a mild December, the snow seems to have finally arrived and it’s getting deeper… And it’s getting colder. I had planned on running all winter, but have taken the last 2 days off due to knee pain. The roads and sidewalks around here seem too treacherous and I’m afraid of slipping and pulling something. I also just had an MRI on my right knee for a nagging injury and am awaiting the results, so I thought I’d be responsible and take it easy.
It’s week 4 of P90X too… which is a recovery week, so it seems fitting to take it a little easier.
Today was Kenpo, a cardio routine. Afterwards, I decided it was time to get on the rollers for my first bike workout this winter. I don’t have much resistance on the rollers so I pedal a fairly high cadence and the sweat was dripping after about 10 minutes. After a total of 45 minutes, that included a few high intensity intervals, there was a big puddle of sweat on the mat below my bike. I wasn’t wearing a heart rate monitor, but it was up there and I was breathing hard. I was reminded of what a good cardio workout you can have on the bike… much better than the videos I’ve been doing, although with less resistance. I think that I’d actually like to try a spin class.
So, much to the chagrin of my wife, it looks like the bike is back in the bedroom for now 🙂
